KIMBERLY BERG’S PORTLAND ROCK STEADY BOXING?
- Improve quality of life. Rock Steady Boxing classes improve hand-eye coordination, balance, voice, rigidly and agility. All the fighters agree, the workout helps control the symptoms and improves quality of life.
- Research-based to slow down Parkinson’s. Even voice and cognition are addressed through singing, shouting and multi-tasking.
- Get sweating with circuit style, high intensity boot camp exercises such as jump rope, TRX, kettle bells, punching bags, focus mitts and speed bags. Research shows this is the best for brain-change.
- Community. All classes are taught in a group setting so you never have to feel alone. The friends you make here are forever; building community and friendships are what makes the biggest difference in the fight. Spouses are welcome to be a “Corner Man/Woman.”
- Have fun! All Rock Steady Boxing classes are fun and set to music. It’s not uncommon for feet to start tapping and singing while you are sweating.
To get started in Kimberly Berg’s Portland Rock Steady Boxing you must complete an evaluation to be placed in the appropriate level class.
- PD levels 1-2 are for people who do not fall, can tolerate a high level of activity and can move around without assistive devices.
- PD levels 3-5 are for people who need a cane or walker, or who need extra time to get to each station in the circuit. Some fighters may need a family member to be their “Cornerman.”
