TAI CHI CLASSES FOR
BALANCE AND MINDFULNESS
Days: Saturday
Time: 10:30 AM
Where: Rebel Fit Club in Tigard
Balance issues are one of the most dangerous symptoms of Parkinson’s disease and anyone in general. Balance is less likely to improve with medication, and because it can lead to frequent falls, it significantly impacts a person’s quality of life and can have catastrophic results.
Several studies show people who do Tai chi develop smoother, longer strides, walk more swiftly, had stronger legs and were able to stand from a seated position more quickly with a significant decrease in the number of falls.
Tai chi is safe, and has been endorsed by the National Parkinson’s Foundation. Our classes can be modified to a chair and can improve the lives of both people with Parkinson’s disease and their support partners. We encourage the spouse to take it too!
Other benefits of Tai Chi may include:
- Improved flexibility
- Stress reduction
- Improved muscle strength
- Treatment for heart disease
- High blood pressure
- Digestive disorders
- Arthritis
- Mood disorders including anxiety and depression
- Cancer and side effects of treatments
