Why Leg Swings?
Leg swings are simple yet powerful dynamic movements that help increase hip flexibility, improve balance, and enhance coordination. By gently moving the legs through a full range of motion, they lubricate the hip joints, reduce stiffness, and promote better body awareness (proprioception).
For people with Parkinson’s, leg swings are especially beneficial—they support better stability and agility, making everyday tasks like walking, climbing stairs, or getting out of a chair safer and easier. By regularly practicing leg swings using the “Heel Strike/Toe Point” motion, you can reduce your risk of falls, strengthen muscles of the hips and legs, and improve the normal biomechanics of a faulty gait pattern.
