Do This Lateral Exercise To Prevent Parkinson’s Falling and Improve Balance

If you find yourself taking short, shuffling steps or hanging on to things because you feel unsteady, this means you are not shifting your weight from side to side. This lack of shifting and the fear of falling can cause you to lose your balance.

Loss of balance and falling are the most dangerous symptoms of Parkinson’s and other neuromuscular conditions. The consequences of a bad fall can be devastating.

This progressive lateral weight-shifting exercise can be modified for people who are at low risk for falling as well as those who are already falling frequently. It’s an exercise I use with my private clients, and it’s infused into our classes. I love seeing people improve their balance and confidence, helping them to walk better!
