You may have heard about CBD products used by people with Parkinson’s disease and other conditions which cause muscle/nerve pain. However, some people are afraid to ask questions or don’t want to try it because of the connection with the illegal or “getting high” reputation.
I want to help educate my friends with Parkinson’s on safe and legal products, so that they know the difference and the facts. In this blog post, we are going to talk about topical ointments from CBD. CBD stands for cannabidiol (can·na·bid·i·ol) which is naturally found in hemp plants. Understanding CBD is the key to knowing how hemp oil supplements work and why scientists are studying it for its health aspects.
What exactly is CBD? It’s a natural substance obtained from hemp plants that promotes wellness without any psychoactive or intoxicating effects. Its active compound is known as a cannabinoid.
Cannabinoids are the molecules which give the cannabis plant its medical and recreational properties. CBD is used more for its health purposes. The most well-known cannabinoid is tetrahyrdocannabinol (THC), which is used for recreational purposes of the cannabis plant.
CBD Derived from Hemp is Very Different from Marijuana
Hemp and marijuana are two distinct strains of the cannabis plant; they are cultivated for different purposes and react differently in the body.
Hemp pertains to a strain of Cannabis Sativa bred precisely for oils and topical ointments, fiber used for clothing, construction, nutritional benefits, and a variety of purposes that do not involve the high of marijuana. Hemp was one of the first plants to be spun into usable fiber more than 10,000 years ago.
CBD from Hemp contains little to no THC, therefore it does not cause a “high”. CBD from Marijuana will have THC, causing an intoxicating effect. Marijuana is currently illegal in most states. Hemp is legal in all US states.
Hemp CBD Oil Topical Products
They are effective for treating inflammation, pain, cramps, spasms, bug bites and other various skin problems. They offer localized relief from minor aches and pains and come in lotions, balms, salves and ointment forms designed to produce hot or cold sensations from the botanicals and CBD chemistry.
To use, just massage it onto the sore area for subtle relief from pain, inflammation and muscle tension. CBD Oil Topical Products won’t cure what’s causing the pain, but they work without the side effects of pain medications taken orally that can affect your liver, kidney and stomach.
This video shows the owner of Woman and Wolf explaining her products to a few of my lady fighters at the Lavender Festival. After trying this ointment on our own aches and pains, we all agreed they are certainly useful. If you’re interested:
