Should You Drink Alcohol If You Have PD?

The holiday season invariably means holiday parties with alcohol. For people with Parkinson’s, alcohol can affect everyone differently. Some people with Parkinson’s choose to avoid alcohol because it doesn’t mix well with their medications, and they can be more sensitive to hangovers. When we are under attack or in danger, the sympathetic nervous system kicks in. It creates 1,500 different chemical and physical reactions to help avoid physical harm. Are You Making These “Terrible Too” Excuses?

When days get darker and the holiday bustle starts sometimes we forget to take care of ourselves. We are doing so much for others, we just don’t have anything left for ourselves.

Remember this, if we don’t take care of ourselves we won’t be able to take care of others. In fact, if we stop taking care of ourselves, our family will have to take care of us.
