Midline physical training focuses on movements that cross the body’s centerline, activating communication between the brain’s hemispheres and promoting neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to change and form new neural connections.
Simple exercises like contralateral punches, where the right hand hits a bag to the left and vice versa, are powerful tools for stimulating these pathways. Including head and eye movements further enhances sensory processing and proprioception by requiring coordinated, whole-body involvement to integrate information more efficiently, strengthening neural networks involved in balance, coordination, motor control, and cognitive performance. We do this in all of our Rebel Fit workouts, both in the gym and in our virtual classes.
